Susan Burke Steckler
Storyteller & Voice Over Artist | Social Justice Advocate | Communications Specialist
Avid traveler, runner, and skier with a soft spot in my heart for Paris. I freelance doing creative storytelling projects ranging from website design and copywriting of all kinds to voiceover. My goal is to be location-flexible while connecting with the communities I have the good fortune to be a part of. My personal blog entries and photography is never about selling a lifestyle or rampant consumerism, simply expressing who I am. You can reach me at susan@globalstoryteller.org.
About the cover photos: Each of the cover photos in the gallery are from personal experiences and have great meaning for me. Details are below:
LIFE ON THE MARGINS: I took this photo while I was helping build homes and distribute food and supplies to marginalized populations in a border town in Mexico. For an unforgettable service weekend that changes lives, check out Finding Sophia.
HANOI MASKS: I traveled with a team from Planned Parenthood to Hanoi, Vietnam to document and support a peer-educator sexual and reproductive health training program. Collaborating with a local NGO, this program helps address Vietnam’s unmet need for family planning education.
MOUNT RAINIER: As I’ve traveled and lived around the world, I am grateful for my Pacific Northwest roots and always appreciate the beauty of nature and time spent outdoors.
“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” – Barack Obama
